WinInspector 2.2 Released: Global Hotkey, Color Picker, and Inspection History
I’m happy to announce the release of WinInspector 2.2, with new features focused on usability improvements.
What’s New in 2.2
⏸️ Global Hotkey Freeze (Ctrl+F12)
You can now freeze the inspection at any moment by pressing Ctrl+F12 - even when WinInspector doesn’t have focus. This makes it much easier to capture information about windows that change state when you try to interact with them.
Alternative hotkeys (Alt+F12, Pause) are automatically used if Ctrl+F12 is already taken by another application.
🎨 Real-Time Color Picker
A new color picker shows the pixel color under your cursor in real-time:
- HEX format (#RRGGBB)
- RGB values (R, G, B)
- Visual color preview in the toolbar
Perfect for designers and developers who need to quickly identify colors in any application.
📜 Inspection History
The new History tab tracks the last 50 inspected windows with:
- Timestamp
- Window class and title
- Process name and PID
- Handle, position, and size
- Pixel color at cursor position
You can review your inspection session and never lose track of windows you’ve analyzed.
📋 Copy to Clipboard
New toolbar buttons let you copy information with one click:
- Copy Window Info
- Copy DLL Lists
- Clear History
